Bournemouth Beaches (Bournemouth, England)

Bournemouth is best known for its spectacular golden beaches, which stretch for over 11 km / 7 miles along the seafront. The beaches, combined with sheltered, clear bathing waters, have always been one of the major tourist attractions in Bournemouth and during the summer, the sunny beaches provide the perfect place for sunbathing, building sand castles, paddling, swimming, and general seaside fun in Bournemouth.

The soft, sandy beaches of Bournemouth have won more awards for cleanliness and safety than any other beach in the United Kingdom, including European Blue Flags and Seaside Awards. Bournemouth is proud of its clean and well-maintained beaches and Bournemouth Pier beach has also been named as the 'Best Beach In The UK' by the environmental group ENCAMS.

Bournemouth BeachesBournemouth's stunning beaches have excellent facilities, and these include beachside restaurants, cafés, bars, beach games, amusements, piers, showers, chalets - which can be hired, deck chairs, parasols, benches, leisurely seafront cruises, watersports - including surfing and jet skis, and cliff lifts. Many areas of the beach are also dog-free, glass-free and barbecues are also permitted in some zones. The Bournemouth RNLI Beach Rescue Teams and lifeguards are always on-hand and many Bournemouth seafront staff are also nearby if you require assistance.

The main beach areas in Bournemouth are divided into colour-coded Beach Zones and free matching wrist bands are available for children, to ensure maximum safety. Other attractions at Bournemouth's beaches include children's beach games clubs - for children over five years old, pier arcade games and slot-machines, and every Friday night in the summer, the beach is lit up by a magical fireworks display, which attracts thousands of spectators, creating and exciting, party atmosphere on Bournemouth's beachfront.

Bournemouth BeachesSome of the most popular award-winning stretches of beach in Bournemouth include Alum Chine, Durley Chine and Southbourne, which are all easy to reach from Bournemouth town centre and have parking areas nearby.
